USE CASES

Three operational scenarios for critical infrastructure, industry and public-sector users — based on the current demonstrator (TRL 5-6).

Autonomous patrols along critical corridors

A defined corridor — pipeline, power line, rail line or border section — in difficult terrain. Drones fly the route systematically. When the system identifies a POI, the control station receives an alert and can take appropriate action.

Technical configuration

  • Area: corridor (pipeline, power line, rail, border), hard-to-access terrain
  • Setup: base station, drones in rotation operation
  • Operation: autonomous patrols along predefined routes
  • Detection: POI detection with a direct alert to the station operator
  • POI management: prioritization and escalation of detected events
  • Coordination: station operator monitors fleet and alerts, field operator verifies POIs on site

Demonstrator status: software validated, hardware integration in preparation.

Systematic missing-person search with AI support

Any search area in forest or mountains. Multiple drones fly systematic scan patterns. Models mark possible persons in optical and infrared imagery as POIs on the map.

Technical configuration

  • Area: forest, mountain or hard-to-access terrain
  • Setup: mobile base station, drones with optical and thermal cameras
  • Operation: systematic search using scan missions
  • Detection: trained models for persons in optical and infrared imagery
  • POI management: detected persons marked as POIs, prioritized and escalated
  • Coordination: station operator manages search progress and area coverage, field operator verifies leads on site

Scan missions and AI-based person detection are validated in the demonstrator.

Automated monitoring of critical infrastructure

A perimeter around a facility or critical infrastructure. Stationary sensors at gates and fences, drones on standby. Detection marks persons, vehicles or objects.

Technical configuration

  • Area: industrial facility or critical infrastructure
  • Setup: stationary installation, drones on standby
  • Operation: route planning along the perimeter with geofencing, stationary sensors at critical points
  • Detection: trainable models for persons, vehicles and objects
  • POI management: escalation by priority
  • Coordination: station operator monitors perimeter and alerts, field operator responds to escalated events

Geofencing logic and real-time integration are validated; models are continuously being extended.
